These are hand felted using the wet felting technique using wool from my own sheep. I have a set of patterns I designed to cut them out. They are hand embroidered and sewn together using varigated embroidery floss. The circle embroidery design on the top right hand dress was taught to me while living in Guatemala and involves the use of a coin. Now if I can just get those fairies to pick up their laundry!
They're lovely! How did you dye them?
ReplyDeleteWonderful!! You need to make a fairy now!!
ReplyDeleteTeri -I use traditional wool/fiber dyes. You can dye them straight out of the washer, but I like to dry my clean wool, card it, and then dye. It gives the wool a more even dye coat. I use the dyes that you boil in a pot on the stove with some vinegar. Plop the wool in for a bit, rinse twice and hang up to drip dry :-)
ReplyDeleteJanet - The job is never done, is it!!
